Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we consider hiring a videographer for our Alaskan wedding?
A videographer captures the essence of your special day, preserving not just the visuals but the emotions and ambiance unique to your celebration. In the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, a videographer can create a cinematic masterpiece that allows you to relive the magic for years to come. Add in the audio from your personalized vows or letters and you have an incredible work of art telling your unique love story.
How can we find a videographer experienced in filming Alaskan weddings?
Look for videographers with a portfolio showcasing outdoor and destination weddings. Seek recommendations from local wedding planners, photographers, or online reviews. As a Lifelong Alaskan who has been filming weddings since 2016, you can be assured that we have the experience to handle the challenges and beauty of filming in Alaska’s diverse environments.
What should we discuss during the initial consultation with the videographer?
Cover important details such as the style of video you envision, preferred locations for shooting, and any specific shots or moments you want to be captured. Discuss the logistics and timing of the different events in your day. You should also ask if they have experience filming in the location where you’re planning on getting married.
Are there any additional considerations for shooting a wedding video in Alaska?
Alaska’s weather can be unpredictable, so discuss contingency plans for rain or unexpected conditions. Make sure the videographer has the necessary equipment to handle various lighting situations and outdoor challenges. Discuss any unique features of your chosen location that may impact filming.
Can our videographer also capture drone footage of our Alaskan wedding?
Many videographers offer drone services, providing stunning aerial views of your wedding venue and the surrounding landscape. Please make sure your videographer is licensed and follows local regulations when operating drones in Alaska. If your wedding is near major airports, this may impact the ability to capture aerial footage at that location.
What should we include in our shot list for the videographer?
When hiring a talented and experienced videographer, you shouldn’t have to write down every shot you want to see. Just make sure you have aligned visions for what your finished video should look like. You could inform them of certain people you’d like to see in the video and be sure to let them know about any specific moments you’d like to see captured. Of course, if there is an epic wedding shot you saw on Instagram, share that link for inspiration.
How long does it take to receive the final wedding video?
Across the industry it is common to see delivery times of 1-3 months, however that does depend on a few factors: Factors such as the length of the video, the complexity of editing, and the videographer’s workload can impact the turnaround time. Ensure you have a clear understanding of when you can expect the final product.
Are there any restrictions on filming in certain Alaskan locations?
In general, Alaska is a vast open landscape that is suited for your one of a kind elopement or intimate wedding, however, some national parks and wildlife reserves may pose some restrictions. Primarily, the use of drones is not allowed in national parks and so don’t expect to get a drone video of you and your fiance running through the tundra at the base of Mt. Denali! As a general rule, if the public is allowed there, a videographer is allowed to capture those moments of your wedding day.
Can we provide input on the music selection for our wedding video?
Most videographers welcome input on music preferences. Share your favorite songs or genres with your videographer to ensure the soundtrack complements the overall feel of your wedding video. However, it’s important to note that the use of copyrighted music in your wedding film can pose legal complications. Due to copyright restrictions, professional videographers often have limitations on incorporating popular songs by mainstream artists without paying $1,000’s of dollars to license the song. That is why many videographers use royalty-free music to create a memorable and personalized soundtrack for your special day.
How can we share our wedding video with friends and family who couldn’t attend?
Each Videographer handles the final delivery of their video differently, however, you should expect to receive a version of your film on a a platform you can share with others and a file that you can download to your personal computer.
